Gordon MacKenzie, CCC, LCT-C
Counselling Therapist
B.A. (Kingswood University), MEd, (University of New Brunswick).
I have long been described as a person who listens well and is easy to talk to. In my work with young people, I coupled that skill with a desire to help people stuck in emotional, relational, and spiritual places. These experiences, along with the passion to help, were being hindered due to my lack of knowledge and training. This led me to go back to school to study for my Masters of Education (MEd) in Counselling Psychology at the University of New Brunswick (UNB) Fredericton in 2008. Upon graduation, I began counselling part-time, first in our church and community in Halifax, NS for 5 years and then in Honduras for 7 years because we moved there and became Global Ministries Personnel. We returned home in 2020, shortly after the COVID crisis began, and I began following my passion to help others and the process of establishing my counselling practice back in Canada.
I am excited to begin this journey with Embracing Hope Counselling Services as a Licensed Counselling Therapist (LCT-C) as part of The College of Counselling Therapists of New Brunswick and a Professional Member of the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association. I have over 13 years of experience working as a therapist with various age groups and across various cultural settings.
My passion is to provide help to those who are struggling with issues related to their overall emotional health (mind, body and spirit). Due to my overseas experiences, I am also well-equipped to help those dealing with multi-cultural challenges.
As a part time counsellor at Embracing Hope, I desire to see clients for a variety of reasons such as, but not limited to, depression, anxiety, abuse, relationship building, divorce, marriage, cross-cultural adaptation, career coaching, communication skills, anger management, grief, spiritual and religious difficulties, self-esteem, and retirement.
I look forward to meeting and partnering with you on your journey!
